Manchester United 2 - 0 Schalke 04: Red Devils' performance delights Sir Alex Ferguson
Manchester United manager, Alex Ferguson has gone on to hail his side's performance against Schalke 04 in the UEFA Champions League semi-final, last night. United went on to dominate the game and the run of things for almost the complete ninety minutes and
are now taking a two goals to nil advantage with them into the second-leg at Old Trafford, next week.
United went on to show their dominance from the very first minute of the game. However, despite dominating in the first 45 minutes, the team couldn’t find the back of the net due to the brilliance of Schalke goalkeeper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Manuel-Neuer-c23424. However despite all
his efforts, he couldn’t do much to deny http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wayne-Rooney-c36736 only a couple of minutes later.
Despite missing a couple of chances earlier in the game, Giggs ran on to a brilliant through ball from Rooney and then slid the ball in between the legs of the German international. Then, within minutes after the re-start, Rooney found space in the box and
went on to slot home a finish, to potentially decide the tie for good.
When talking about the game and the performance that his players put in, Ferguson is reported to have said, "Our concentration, intensity and speed of passing was excellent. We had less chances in the second half but were more dangerous, when Chicharito
scored and it was offside it told the players they could beat the goalkeeper."
The manager then went on to state that he might finally be facing selection problems when it comes to his team, but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing, since that just shows the depth in the squad.
"We have selection problems now but that is what we want," stated the manager.
Nonetheless, a slightly more complacent Ferguson then went on to state that maybe he might even go on to rest a couple of players for the second-leg of the semi-finals.
"Depending on the result on Sunday [at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 the following weekend," he added.
Alex Ferguson seems to have gotten his squad selection and team motivation down to perfection. Despite not having one of the strongest squads in Europe, the manager is able to milk the team for everything that they are worth and that just goes to show how
great the manager really is.
Should Ferguson continue to get the same level of performances from the players for the remainder of the season, then United might yet go on to lift the double at the end of the season.
