Manchester United's legend Paddy Crerand sees lot of similarities between Rooney and Bobby Charlton

Manchester United's legend, Paddy Crerand, has compared http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wayne-Rooney-c36736 to another United's legend, Sir Bobby Charlton.
Sir Bobby Charlton is unarguably the best player in United’s history and is the club’s leading goal-scorer with 249 goals to his name. Charlton made more than 700 appearances for United and was part of three League titles, one FA Cup and a European Cup winning
team.
Charlton played in an array of attacking positions and was mostly deployed as a striker or a deeplying midfielder. Rooney also plays pretty much in the same style and his preferred role is playing behind a striker.
After a dismal start to the 2010-11 season, Rooney has regained his lost form and has made some scintillating performances of late. Rooney played as a main striker in the 2009-10 Premier League season and finished the campaign as the leading goal-scorer
with 34 goals to his name. The arrival of Javier Hernandez has eased a lot of burden off Rooney and he is playing in a free role, where he performs best.
Crerand, who was Charlton’s team-mate in the European Cup winning team, believes that Rooney is very similar in playing style to Charlton. However, he added that the only difference between the two is that Charlton played better with either foot.
Talking to the reporters Crerand said, "I see a lot of Bobby in Wayne Rooney. They are both big-name players. Bobby was fantastic and Wayne is terrific too. Bobby always loved to get on the ball all the time and so does Wayne. Great players always want the
ball. That's why clubs pay the most money for them."
"Bobby was more dangerous from distance. I know Wayne can hit them but Bobby could hit them with either foot, and you wouldn't know which foot was his best. Was he a natural right-footer or a natural left-footer? I still don't really know. But they are the
same quality of player." added the 72-year-old
The former Celtic midfielder added that Rooney has got a great mind for a footballer and he can become a better midfield player than a striker.
