Manchester United Is Done with Transfers- Ferguson Going against Smith
Manchester United’s CEO David Gill has officially announced that there will be no more signings or transfers from the club till the transfer window closes and has put the locks on the transfer cash accounts.
Manchester United have been comparatively very restrained throughout this summer while the transfer window was still open and they didn’t even make a single major transfer. They did not add any new major names to their ranks whereas, their close neighbors Manchester City have spent something around eighty million pounds on new signings this summer. City have added so many new guns to the ranks that the old players are actually leaving on their own will, as they are afraid that they might not get any chance to play.
A lot of these old players aren’t content with sitting on the benches this season so they may consider an offer from a decent club that will give them a part in their first team. On the other hand, all of the new players in City are there because of a sudden influx of money from the club’s new owners, the Sheikhs from Abu Dhabi group, who have pumped more than a hundred million dollars into the club. City has recruited players like Javier Hernandez, the striker Bebe, Marnick Vermijil and Chris Smalling.
Despite all this, Gill still believes that Manchester United is strong enough to battle out all the other teams in the league and will come out with shining colors. He commented on the matter by saying that we have the resources and the talent, and what they do best is that they train the talented youngsters. They nurture them to the top stars of tomorrow and they have done this with Wayne Rooney, Anderson, Nani and the famous Christiano Ronaldo.
The CEO went on to say that he thinks that Bebe will fit into this profile as he is very talented and has the tendency to become something very grand. He continued that his policy still hasn’t changed, but if there is a player that Sir Alex Ferguson thinks has the tendency to change things then they will go with it. The Red Devils discovered recently that their Champions League opponents would be from Group C and the list includes the Scottish Champions’ Rangers, Bursaspor and Valencia.
There are two clashes coming up and one is at Ibrox in which the ‘Red Devils’ boss will go against former assistant Walter Smith who is the current Rangers manager. Smith left Manchester United in 2004 and he was the second in command when the club last won the FA Cup. Alex Ferguson said on the official club website that it was a good draw for the club and he had already been on the phone with Smith and both of them were looking forward to the game. Ferguson and Smith go back a long way and both surely remember the last time they were at the Ibrox together.
