Manchester United News- Darren Fletcher aims to end up like Scholes and Giggs

Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher admits his love for his club, and the desire to play for such a club keeps him going on daily basis.
The Scotland International is one of the many home grown talents of Manchester United, and at the age of 26, he has already spent 10 glorious year with United, with 255 appearances for the club. He played an integral part in United’s previous season, as is now a first choice player. He plays right in the heart of midfield, and although he is not a top goal scorer, his almost perfect passes and impressive play making ability makes him one of the best in the business. He is still hungry for more, and confessed that he would be lost when it will be time to hang up his boots at United. He however looks up to his mentors Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville, who all have enjoyed long careers at the club, and aims to perhaps end up like them. Giggs has spent approximately 20 years; Scholes has spent 16 years, while club captain Gary Neville has spent 18 years with the club. All these players are aiming to finally retire, apart from Scholes, who wants to prolong his career further than 10/11 season.
Fletcher has all the making of ending up like them, as this has been the only club he has known since he was 16. He stated that if you leave the club, it is not a step ahead but a step backwards. He believed United as being the biggest club, and that if a player has stayed to play for the club, he has enjoyed the top quality football. Since its establishment in 1992 United has won 11 out of 18 titles in the Premier League, and aims for an unprecedented 19th overall English titles. He claimed that all the players who have left the Red Devils advise the current players to think twice before they aim to leave as there is no place like Manchester United. He praised the club’s environment, claiming that the club makes you feel at home. He added that no one really thinks about quitting United once they join, which is evident from the long spells most of the players have enjoyed.
He specifically admired the quality and resilience of Paul Scholes, who aims to keep on playing even after the 10/11 season. Fletcher fancies the midfielder’s ability, claiming him to be one of the best of all time. Both of the midfielders are currently busy training for the pre-season friendlies in the USA. The squad is to play five matches in the total pre-season tour. When asked that who was the greatest player he has played with is, he simply answered, Paul Scholes. Such is the amount of respect and admiration he has for the veteran midfielder. He added that he has played in the top years of United and has had a long 16 years career with United. Scholes however has always been under rated and never really received the praise and credit he truly deserved. Scholes scored two match saving goals, among others, for United last season, including the last gasp winner against Manchester City in the second half of the season.
He praised the ability of both Giggs and Scholes, claiming them to be almost urban legends. These two have truly been role models for younger players, who join United at a tender age. All these players aim to perhaps end up like Giggs and Scholes, as both of them have progressed through the ranks at United. This gives young players the inspiration that they too can end up like them, provided they work as hard as both of these players have over the years.
United are to kick off their campaign at home when they host the newly promoted Newcastle United, in the opening fixture of the Premier league.
