Manchester United News Update: Evra not worried about being 'invincible'; Rafael charged with improper conduct
Manchester United look set to win their 19th league title, as they sit pretty on top of the table with games in hand. More importantly though, United have a chance of becoming the 2nd team to win the season without losing a single
game. Arsenal did it back in the 2003-04 season and were called 'Invincibles'. However, the whole team is more focused on wining the season rather than winning without losing a single game.
Last game for Manchester United ended in a goalless draw against Tottenham, but it was good enough to take them back to the top of the table.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Patrice-Evra-c29231, the left back for United, said that people outside the club continue to talk about the unbeaten season record, but inside the camp there is not a single person who mentions that.
He added that winning the league remains the only thing on his team-mates minds. Evra went on to say that becoming ‘Invincibles’ would be great, but winning the season remains the first priority and anything else would just be a bonus.
The French left back said that in the game against Spurs, United were given a great match by the home team. He said that he knew everyone who was not a United supporter wanted them to lose and to end the unbeaten run. But it was the single mindedness and
hard work that helped them come back with a point from that game.
This season Manchester United have won 12 of their 21 games, and drawn 9 matches. 8 of which have been away from home. When one compares their season to Arsenal’s in 2003-04 , the Gunners had won 14 and drawn 7 at the same stage.
But the thing that is in Manchester United’s favour is that there is a general consensus that the Red Devils are still way off their best form. A fact that is scary for the rivals, because if playing below their best has kept them on top what would happen
when they hit top form.
Evra said that Sir Alex Ferguson has repeatedly told the squad that records come and go, what matters most is the silverware and when you win that, records come are made in the process. The man who led http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/South-Africa-c757 said that during
his time at Old Trafford he has learned that, keeping the foot on the peddle throughout the season is the key. He concluded by saying that when they have a man like Ferguson in charge who has seen and done it all, and for decades, there is no room for complacency
and that is what keeps them going. Evra reiterated that United are focused on winning the league with or without the unbeaten record.
Meanwhile, in other news from the Red Devils’ dugout, Rafael Da Silva the Brazilian right back for Manchester United is being charged for improper conduct by the Premier League. He has been accused after his outburst at referee Mike Dean in the game against
Tottenham at White Hart Lane.
The younger of the Da Silva twin brothers, was given a 2nd yellow in the game and was sent off in the 0-0 draw. It was foul on Benoit Assou-Ekotto that led to his dismissal, the replays showed that it may have been an unintentional foul but the
referee saw otherwise. Mike Dean issued him his 2nd yellow and Rafael did not take it well and confronted the referee.
The FA said in a statement: "Manchester United defender Rafael Da Silva has today been charged by the FA with improper conduct.
"The charge relates to the player's conduct towards match official Mike Dean following his dismissal in Manchester United's fixture at Tottenham."
