Joseph Yobo close to Everton exit
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c39043 as soon as his loan move to Fenerbahce ended. The 30-year-old central defender has now been on loan to the Turkish outfit for a season now and is contracted to Everton until the end of the 2014 season.
The move was Everton boss David Moyes’ idea, who did not think Yobo was of much use in his squad. Yobo said he felt that his loan move was mostly because of his decision to represent his country in the 2010 African Cup of Nations.
He said, “At times in life you have to move on. I spent eight seasons at Everton and I enjoyed every moment and I still have exciting memories of my stay there. But I guess my loyalty to my country's team did not go down well with some people there. Playing for Nigeria in 2010 was the reason I lost my place.”
While Yobo was certain that he wanted to move, he said he would make his final decision once he returned to Goodison Park. He continued, “If I had my way I will not return to Everton. But I still have a three-year contract at Everton and I am only on loan to Fenerbahce. I will wait until the end of the season to determine that.”
David de Gea lined up to replace Edwin van der Sar
Recent reports reveal that English Premier League giants Manchester United will have to pay £22 million if they wish to sign Atletico Madrid goal keeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-de-Gea-c10463. The Spaniard has been linked with the Red Devils since last season but the 20-year-old declined the move previously, claiming he was happy with the La Liga side.
However, a move in the summer seems likely with Manchester United number one Edwin van der Sar announcing his retirement. The 40-year-old Dutchman’s retirement will create a vacuum for which Sir Alex Ferguson has his eyes set on De Gea. Atletico Madrid have not made it easy for United though, the previously mentioned £22 million is the minimum release clause for the Spaniard.
Arsenal eye Wolfsburg keeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Diego-Benaglio-c11085
Arsenal are another top Premier League side looking for a goal keeper, their search has led them to Diego Benaglio. The 27-year-old Wolfsburg stopper has caught the eye of the Arsenal scouts and they are reportedly desperate to bring him to the Emirates at the end of this campaign.
With two of their goal keepers injured Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was forced to recall former Gunners keeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jens-Lehmann-c18297 out of his retirement. However, the 41-year-old German is not the solution to Arsenal’s goal keeper problem and they are still looking for a more permanent replacement.
However, the Swiss stopper might come at a price Wenger is not willing to spend, with his contract set for expiration at the end of the 2013 season. If Wenger does want to end the trophy drought then some sacrifices will have to be made, including spending in the transfer windows.
