Manchester United striker, Wayne Rooney, paid tribute to his strike partner, Javier Hernandez, who scored twice in the return leg against Marseille at Old Trafford to help United reach the quarterfinal of the UEFA Champions League.
Rooney expressed his contentment over forming lethal attacking partnership with Hernandez and claimed that the Mexican attacker has every attribute to become a top class centre-forward.
The English striker said, “He [Hernandez] has got great movement, so I’m sort of playing in the position I played when I first started playing professionally. I’m enjoying it, getting on the ball, linking the play and thankfully he’s a finisher so that helps
the team. It’s not often as a forward you get a chance to get on the ball and enjoy the game, linking the play and so on but I did that tonight”.
Manchester United entered the tie against Marseille on the back of a goalless away draw in the first leg. Javier Hernandez solitarily won the UEFA Champions League tie for the Red Devils by scoring a brace against the French Giants - taking his goal tally
to a total of 16 this season.
The Mexican striker scored in the fifth minute with a tap-in after Wayne Rooney played a perfect cross towards him.
Hernandez and Manchester United had to wait 70 more minutes to seal a berth for the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League.

Wayne Rooney hailed the team’s performance and expressed his delight over reaching the last-8 of the UEFA Champions League for the fifth consecutive time.
He said, “We are delighted to reach the quarter-finals. It was a difficult game, we knew they were a physical team and they have got power so thankfully we have got through and we just deserved it. They got out wide, and put some good balls in the box and
made it difficult, but we defended well in the end and managed to get the win we needed”.
Manchester United’s hunt for another treble is still on track. Sir Alex Ferguson’s men are leading the Barclays Premier League table and are already through to the quarterfinals of the FA Cup.
