Manchester United beat Birmingham 5-0
Manchester United were back to their menacing best as they beat Birmingham 5-0 in a one sided affair at Old Trafford. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dimitar-Berbatov-c11254 got his 3rd hat-trick of the season as United cemented their place at top of the Premier League table.
Berbatov was the man who scored a hat-trick, but Ryan Giggs was also in the headlines after the game. The veteran has just been offered a one-year contract extension and looking at the way he played, he certainly can go much longer. The first time he got
his foot to the ball was when he took a corner, in the 2nd minute of the game. The left-footer sent in a threatening ball at the near post, it was headed to the centre by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nemanja-Vidic-c27550 and Berbatov headed in from close range to make it 1-0.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rio-Ferdinand-c31173, did well minutes later to get his head to a corner but was denied by the post.
Manchester United looked in the mood for more goals and were not ready to sit back on the early lead. Giggs was once again involved as he stole the ball in centre of the park and played it to Wayne Rooney. The front man got to the edge of the box and played
Berbatov in from the left, Bulgarian cut in and got the ball on his right foot before rifling the ball in to make it 2-0.
Birmingham looked nervous and on the back foot, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ben-Foster-c7445 was played back pass by one of his defenders but he passed it straight to Rooney. Wayne played it first time to Berbatov but his shot was saved by Foster who was able to make a manse.
Berbatov was looking to get a first half hat-trick and continued to look for goals. The former Spurs player found himself in the box with 2 defenders and the keepers in front him. Berba tried to use his imagination and tried a clever shot at the near post
but was denied.
The constant pressure from United was notched up to another level just before the first-half break. Berbatov was once again involved but he was one of the providers. Normally criticised for his lethargic approach, Berba fell down while trying to retrieve
the ball and while on the floor played the ball to Rooney on the right flank. Wayne went to the bye-line and fizzed a quick low cross across the face of the goal. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ryan-Giggs-c31985 was running it from the centre and tapped in a brilliant goal with his left to make
it 3-0.
Birmingham manager Alex McLeish knew that the match was all but over for him in the first half. He replaced Alexander Hleb in the 2nd half with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cameron-Jerome-c8284  as the Blues looked to salvage some pride from the game.

The 2nd half began as the first ended, Nani was quick to get on the flank after the resumption and crossed in a brilliant ball from the byline. Wayne Rooney somehow managed to head it wide from the goal mouth.
Birmingham’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Bentley-c10435 did well to make his way past Anderson and into United box, but his shot was well wide of the goal. Manchester United meanwhile made it 4 nil, and Berbatov completed his 3rd hat-trick of the season.  It was the same
trio involved, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wayne-Rooney-c36736 did well to get the end of a long ball sent in by Edwin van Der Sar and played in Ryan Giggs. The Veteran used his nifty feel to make his way in the Birmingham box and sent in a pass and Berbatov made his was ahead of the defender
and tapped in his 3rd goal.  http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nani-c27299, who had tried his luck number of times, finally got his wish and knocked in the 5th goal for United to complete well rounded performances. Manchester United look to be hitting their strides just as expected
and have now moved 2 points clear of Arsenal at the top with a game in hand.
