Manchester United beat Blackpool 4-2 in final English Premier League game – EPL news
Manchester United sent Blackpool down to the championship by beating them 4-2 in the final Premier League game of the 2010-11 season.
A draw could have seen Blackpool survive in the League but for the second time in the season, they gave away a lead against the Red Devils and ended up losing all three points.
It was a game with contrasting ambitions for both teams. Manchester United had already won the title last week and were looking to end the season with a home win before they lifted the title. On the other hand, Blackpool knew they had everything to lose
in this game, and nothing short of at least a draw was going to keep them in the Premier League.
The first half started brightly and Manchester United were caught off guard by Charlie Adams twice. The Scotsman played in Taylor Fletcher twice in the first 5 minutes but he missed on both occasions.

the League but he could not make them count.

However, minutes before the break, Charlie Adams got the visitors level with a scorching free kick from just outside the
area.
The 2nd half began with Blackpool determined to get one more goal and take the lead to stay in the Premier League. United took a bit longer in the 2nd half to get going and paid the price.
It was Gary Taylor Fletcher who made up for his mistakes in the first half and knocked in a stupendous goal. The front man had his back to the goal but back-flicked the ball past Edwin van der Sar who was playing his final League game for United.
Manchester United did not look rattled even after going behind, as they knew they could get back in the game considering they won the last meeting between the two teams 3-2 after being 2-0 down.
The equaliser came from an unlikely source. Brazilian http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Anderson-c5565 was played in by Park and the midfielder placed his left foot well to divert the ball into the back of the net to make it 2-2.
Blackpool at the time knew that a draw would still not be a bad result but it got worse. Minutes later an own goal put United in the lead and that pretty much took the wind out of Blackpool’s sails.
