Manchester United beat Sheffield United 4-1 at Old Trafford: FA Youth Cup
It seems like Manchester United are on a purple patch. Just a day after their senior squad secured the record 19th league title, the youngsters
turned on the style as they beat Sheffield United in the final of the FA Youth Cup, 4-1 to lift the coveted youth trophy for the 10th time in their history.
After having already drawn the first-leg away from home, United were in rampant mood as a brace each from promising youngsters, Ravel Morrisson and
Will Keane, helped the young Red Devils beat Sheffield United 6-3 on aggregate.
Sir Alex Ferguson was in the stands to witness the historic moment as he watched his youngsters run riot against a very talented Sheffield United side.
After securing a highly unlikely yet deserved draw in the first-leg, having twice come back in the game to end the match in a stalemate, the second-leg was expected to be a much tighter contest.
It was a lop-sided affair though, as Manchester United dominated the proceedings from the word go.
For the visitors, Jordan Slew played in inspired form but his heroics were not enough against 11 players who had nothing but one agenda on their minds, to land a record 10th youth
cup title.
Jordan came close to scoring on many occasions in the game but goalkeeper, Sam Johnstone, was equal to task every time.
For the hosts, Paul Pogba, Ryan Tunnicliffe, Ravel Morrisson and Will Keane, all shone brightly but the glory was to bestow only Keane and Morrisson, as the two strikers scored 4 goals between
them.
Ravel Morrisson scored once in each half, while Keane scored one from the spot and second late in the game to make it a comfortable outing for the young Red Devils.
In the end Joe Ironside’s strike for the Blades was nothing more than a consolation as Old Trafford basked in glory for the second time in as many days.
Manchester United seniors are now all set to take on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 in the final of the UEFA Champions League on the 28th of May at Wembley but before that, there is a small matter of
playing a testimonial game for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gary-Neville-c14447 on Tuesday night.
Despite the Champions League final looming, Sir Alex Ferguson is set to field a lot of his first team players in the game as a tribute to the services of one of the greatest right-backs of his
generations.
