Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson refuses to face media after humiliating defeat from Liverpool
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has refused to give any interviews to the media after his team’s humiliating defeat at the hands of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809. United were put under hammers by Kenny Dalglish's team on Sunday as they thrashed the league leaders by
a convincing 3-0 margin with the help of Dirk Kuyt’s classic hat-trick.
According to the reports, Ferguson has also made it clear to other Manchester United stakeholders to remain quiet and unresponsive in the media. It is being reported that he is not even willing to give interviews to MUTV, which his club own.
The English Premier League (EPL) officials are considering taking action against Ferguson for showing improper behaviour by launching his media blackout. The 69-year old Ferguson has contradicted the EPL rule that says that at least one person from each
club must be available for pre-match and post-match interviews.
Manchester United received a major blow to their hopes of winning the EPL title when they got a second successive league defeat at Anfield, following a defeat from defending champions Chelsea in the previous week. Manchester United, who are still sitting
leading the EPL points table with 60 points, have provided a golden opportunity to Arsenal and other teams to edge closer to them and join them in the title race. Now Arsenal are only three points behind the Red Devils with Manchester United having played
a match more than the Gunners.
Ferguson is believed to have gone mute to the media because of his annoyance with refereeing decisions during the match against Liverpool. Ferguson believed that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nani-c27299 but
the referee decided against it.
Ferguson was already charged by FA Cup officials for criticising the refereeing decisions of Martin Atkinson on their club TV channel MUTV following last week’s 2-1 loss from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786. So he must feel better to not say anything out loud that may land him
in more trouble, although he is feeling the heat internally.
The only player who has actually communicated in an indirect way with the outside world is http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rio-Ferdinand-c31173. He tweeted, “Bad result today, no excuses.”
Ferguson’s media blackout also comes straight after Arsene Wenger’s outburst against refereeing decisions in his club’s match against Sunderland last week. The infuriated Wenger called the referees’ decisions unacceptable and was furious over Anthony Taylor,
the referee of the match in question.
The 61-year-old Arsenal boss said, “The referee’s job is to make the right decision. I’m too disgusted to speak about it. These things can have an impact on the Premier League. Justice has not been done. The decisions punished us severely, especially the
offside that wasn’t offside.”
