Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson admits Chelsea competition for EPL title
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson revealed he saw defending champions Chelsea as competition to the English Premier League crown even though the Blues were tied on points with third place Arsenal on the Premier League table.
Ferguson’s side have had to mostly fight Chelsea for the Premier League crown, the Scottish manager was certain that experience ensured Chelsea had  the edge over Arsenal, who have not won the domestic title since 2004.
Ferguson said while speaking to reporters, “Chelsea are far more experienced than Arsenal - strong team, strong experience. Arsenal are better footballers, but Chelsea are the better, stronger team. I recognize that both are six points behind us, both are
our challengers.”
He admitted the Premier League was unpredictable and with five games remaining anything could happen. Ferguson did not write-off the Gunners completely but said he predicted the Blues to present a bigger challenge in the Premier League title race.
After a terrible slump in mid-season, Chelsea have seem to rediscovered their form and have returned to their winning ways. After back to back wins over West Brom Albion and Birmingham City, they seem unstoppable and will host West Ham United at Stamford
Bridge today.
Manchester United will be welcoming http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c39043 at Old Trafford today in an early kick-off and will be under pressure to secure all three points. Failure to do so will result in the Blues having more of a chance to close the gap, something Ferguson believed
would give his side more motivation to step up their performance.
Ferguson continued, “It is good to know someone is behind you. You have to recognize who is there because we cannot become complacent. In that sense we use our experience of years past in situations like this. Hopefully it will get us where we want to go.”
The United boss believed his side had the required confidence and experience to deal with the pressure so close to the end of the season. Ferguson is not only focusing on the Premier League but also the UEFA Champions League.
Manchester United face German outfit Schalke 04 in the Champions League semi-finals and Ferguson was aware it was a fixture he could not take lightly. The German champions beat last season’s Champions League winners Inter Milan to get to this stage of the
competition.
While United will be somewhat stretched as they focus their efforts on two competitions, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-Maseru-c38430 will be focusing on just the Premier League. However Ferguson believes the Red Devils, who are in pursuit of their 19th league title,
have what it takes to win the double this season.
