Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson ends media blackout
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has finally broken his media silence to reveal that he has had to endure a terrible week so far. The United boss' comments come just before his side's upcoming FA Cup quarter-final clash against Arsenal at Old
Trafford on 12 March.
Ferguson and Manchester United were refusing to speak to the media for much of this week to protest against the coverage given to the Scot's remarks about referee Martin Atkinson. The Red Devils manager had accused the official of bias after his side's 2-1
defeat to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 at Stamford Bridge, resulting in him being charged with improper conduct by the Football Assocoation (FA).
Sir Alex had not taken too kindly to the furor surrounding his allegedly innocent comments, and the United boss let his feelings be known by launching a media blackout.
Manchester United lost comprehensively to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 on 6 March, but if Ferguson had any opinions about that match, he kept them to himself. The Red Devils had cancelled all interviews before and after the match, proving that Ferguson was serious in his bid
to avoid the media.
However, now the Scot has finally broken his silence, revealing that he has had a bad week so far. Despite all that has happened over the past few days, Sir Alex was determined to focus on the bright side. The Manchester United manager says he is looking
forward to leading his team through a crucial time in the season.
Ferguson said, "I have sympathy for myself. I didn't have an easy week myself. You have to look forward. We have big opportunities at the club and there are a lot of challenges ahead for the rest of the season."
He added, "It is terrific to be involved in the middle of March. Every game you play is of importance."
Manchester United are currently gearing up for a crucial FA Cup quarter-final clash against arch-rivals Arsenal. That match will take place on Saturday, 12th March, followed by a Champions League encounter against Marseille three days later.
