Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson waiting for Owen Hargreaves and Nani to return
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is apparently waiting on injury plagued http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 International was out for almost two seasons and made his return last November, only to pick up an injury after 10 minutes.
Hargreaves returned for the clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the English Premier League, which Manchester United won 2-1. Unfortunately for the 30-year-old, he picked up a hamstring injury which has kept him sidelined until now.
Hargreaves arrived at Old Trafford from Bayern Munich in 2007 but failed to secure a place in the starting XI for Sir Alex Ferguson’s side because of his inconsistency. However, Ferguson has maintained faith in the midfielder and is eager to see if he will
make an impact at this point in the season.
The midfielder had reportedly returned to Germany for treatment, which has been successful. Ferguson confirmed the treatment had been a success and that he expected Hargreaves to return to training on Monday. This means Hargreaves is close to his return
for the Red Devils.
Ferguson said while speaking to reporters, “Yeah, we have missed him. He's a very good player but he's been missing so long. From what we're told he's coming back from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 and he's going to start training on Monday with us so we'll wait and see.”
The Scottish manager admitted Hargreaves was an important player but revealed the squad had managed to do fine without him recently. He continued, “He's been a loss but there's nothing you can do about it. Up until the last couple of weeks we haven't really
needed him.”
Ferguson praised the rest of the midfield players who had really stepped up in the absence of Hargreaves; he mentioned the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ryan-Giggs-c31985. All the midfield players have been
fairly consistent for United this season, despite their injuries.
Nani is one such player who has flourished in the absence of Hargreaves. Since his arrival in 2007, the Portuguese winger has maintained a place in the starting XI. He has had consistent performances for United so far, making 34 appearances and scoring 10
goals.
The United manager added, “We've had plenty of options in the middle of the park but we've coped OK. Antonio Valencia's been out for most of the season but http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nani-c27299 has progressed because of it. He's been terrific. Sometimes that happens. You lose a player and
someone else steps up.”
Nani is currently out with a ghastly gash on his leg, which he received during the 3-1 loss to rivals http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 at Anfield. The 24-year-old was stretchered off and reports revealed that the United winger would be out for at least three weeks, which means
he will be set to return in April.
