Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson warns his players against complacency: EPL news
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has claimed that the Red Devils will not take their foot off the gas for a moment, despite being in such strong positions in both the UEFA Champions League and the Barclays Premier League. The Scot has urged his side to keep their momentum going by winning all their games, rather than trying to get by with draws.
The Red Devils are all but through to the final of the Champions League, having defeated German club Schalke 2-0 on their home turf in the first leg of the semi-final tie. Schalke will find it near impossible to overturn a two away goal deficit, especially since Sir Alex’s side has not conceded a single goal at Old Trafford throughout the tournament.
Not only that, Manchester United are also on track to win a record 19th Premier League crown. The Red Devils are currently six points ahead of their closest rivals http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 with just four games of the season remaining to contest. However, Ferguson sees it as just another Premier League trophy, saying, “If we achieve it, it'll be great to reflect on, but at the moment we know we've got some hard games left. We look forward to the challenge, though.”
With such a comfortable lead on both fronts, United can afford to take it easy in the run-in to the end of the season. However, manager Sir Alex Ferguson insists that his players never aim for anything less than a win whenever they step onto the pitch.
Speaking on the matter, the Scot said, “It's important to keep momentum going by winning games. That's vital. Draws don't come into it now, it's all about wins. This team might not have the 'Ronaldo' factor, but it doesn't understand the word defeat. It's determined, gritty and very professional, and it's produced some great moments.”
He added, “It's not as if we've been devoid of that [fantasy]. Some of the football we've seen from the players this season has been terrific."
Manchester United currently sit at the summit of the Premier League standings with 73 points.
