Manchester United defender Chris Smalling praises his team's never say die attitude: EPL News
Manchester United defender Chris Smalling has hailed his team’s never say die attitude and believes that the English Premier League title is theirs to lose in the ongoing 2010-11 campaign.
United made a remarkable comeback to beat West Ham United 4-2 at Upton Park on Saturday evening. Smalling, who joined the Red Devils before the start of this campaign, has played in the last six league outings for the league leaders. The 21-year-old said that this experience has really helped him and has given him a greater understanding of the club’s philosophy.
Smalling said, "I'm starting to get a feel of the club's never say die attitude and I don't think many other teams possess that. Everybody just sticks together. They were all over the moon in the dressing room. It shows how big this club is and the emphasis on things, how we don't give up and it's paid off in the end."
The United defender added, "I'm definitely fitting into that philosophy. Blackpool was another strange game where we had to come back in that one.”
United’s heroics and their title rivals’ failures helped United to extend their lead to seven points at the top of the league table. Smalling believes that this weekend's results have pushed the Red Devils closer to capturing their record 19th league title this year.
He added, “The manager said it can be a really tough place (Upton Park) to come because they create a great atmosphere here. It's definitely within our grasp and there's other competitions we're involved in."

The England Under-21 international admitted that he really enjoyed Wayne Rooney’s hat-trick against West Ham, which put United back into the game. He added that it was a wonderful moment for him after the game, when Rooney asked all players to sign the match ball. Smalling said he felt really honoured to sign the ball for one of the world’s best players.
Smalling is ready to move on and has already shifted his focus to United’s UEFA Champions League first leg quarter-final tie against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 on Wednesday. The former Fulham defender knows the importance of the game and is confident of his team’s success against the Blues.
