Ricardo Carvalho would prefer Chelsea in the final
Real Madrid defender Ricardo Carvalho said he hoped to meet former club Chelsea in the latter stages of the Champions League. He revealed he loved his old club and was still in touch with his former teammates but wished to face them in Europe.
The Portuguese defender arrived at Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2004 from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186. He was one of Jose Mourinho’s favorite players and followed the Special One to London. Ever since his arrival he was a key part of the squad until his departure in 2010.
When Mourinho took over La Liga giants Real Madrid, he was determined to strengthen his defense. Talks were held and the Portuguese defender decided to leave Chelsea and join Madrid where he has been in excellent form.
While talking about the Champions League, the Madrid defender admitted that he would like to face http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 in the final of the European competition. Carvalho said while speaking to reporters, “Definitely. I know how much it would mean to them – to the club
and the players. I still talk to many of them and they still mean a lot to me.”
Real Madrid take on Tottenham Hotspur in the quarter finals, while Chelsea face Premier League leaders Manchester United. Both sides have a good chance of making it past these sides and then eventually reaching the final.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nemanja-Vidic-c27550 admits Chelsea have edge
Manchester United central defender Nemanja Vidic revealed he was happy that the Chelsea strikers had been unable to find the back of the net. The Serbian international spoke ahead of the Champions League quarter-final clash against the Blues and he said
he was somewhat pleased with their current goal drought.
While at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707 had a very impressive record against Vidic and more specifically Manchester United. However, after his £50 million record breaking move to Chelsea, the 26-year-old has not been in his usual goal scoring form.
The United defender was happy but wary at the same time, since the striker could regain his form any time.
Apart from the fear of Torres and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Didier-Drogba-c11044 scoring an insane amount of goals, there is Manchester United’s record at Stamford Bridge, or lack of it. The Red Devils have not been able to register a win at Chelsea for nine years now. The Manchester United
skipper admitted that Chelsea had the advantage going into the fixture but that anything could happen.
Vidic said despite the Blues’ obvious edge, he hoped his side would get a goal in the first leg at Stamford Bridge. He said while speaking to reporters, “In terms of this result, yes, they do have an edge because they had good ones against us, but this is
Champions League and the name of the game for us on Wednesday is to try and score.”
