Manchester United defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nemanja-Vidic-c27550 wants to spend rest of his career with the Red Devils
Manchester United skipper and defender Nemanja Vidic has revealed that he wants to end his playing career at Old Trafford.
Vidic has been linked to a host of Spanish and Italian clubs, but the defender has insisted that he is happy at United and will honour his contract with the club.
The Serbian was handed the captaincy armband before the ongoing 2010-11 season as a reward for his consistent performances for the Red Devils. He was also rewarded with a pay raise in form of a new contract in August 2010.
Talking to the reporters Vidic said, “I hope to spend the rest of my career here at United. I heard the speculation about me maybe leaving last year, but I know where I want to be and I have shown my commitment to the club.”
“I have given the best years of my career to this club and the talk about me leaving here was never correct. I always give my best. Of course, sometimes you have good and bad days, but I think I always try to give 100 per cent - and especially now I have
that armband and the responsibility that goes with it. I'm definitely here for the rest of my career now,” he added.
The 29-year-old added that he has never wanted to leave the club and loves everything about Manchester United. He said that his on-field performances can easily justify that he is happy at the club.
The former Spartak Moscow defender is proud of being made captain of the club and said he is honoured to take over the role.
Vidic joined United in January 2006 from Spartak Moscow and since then the defender has established himself as one of the best defenders in the world. The Serbian has featured in the Professional Footballers Association Premier League team of the year every
season since the 2006-07 campaign. He was also named as the Barclays Player of the Season for the 2008-09 term.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Red-Star-c40350 Belgrade defender is also a strong contender to win the PFA Player of the Year award for the current season.
