Manchester United defender Patrice Evra admits that he has to improve – EPL news
Manchester United defender, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Patrice-Evra-c29231, has admitted that he has not been at his best in the recently concluded 2010/11 campaign.
The Red Devils made history this season by securing their record-breaking 19th
Premier League crown. It has made them the most successful club in the history of the English game. Thanks to this achievement alone, United’s 2010/11 season will surely become part of the folklore at Old Trafford.
Patrice Evra was an integral part of this United squad, but perhaps he will not look back on this campaign as fondly as some of his other teammates. The Frenchman has not had the most productive season with the Red Devils. Evra has looked out of sorts since
the start of the Barclays Premier League campaign, something that is most probably related to his problems with the France national squad.
Evra was at the centre of a controversy surrounding the France national team during the 2010 FIFA World Cup. The defender was one of the ringleaders in the ‘mutiny’ against head-coach, Raymond Domenech. Due to the problems within the camp, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 failed
to qualify past the group stages of the tournament, and Evra’s standing in the national squad was irreparably tarnished.
Perhaps it is because of this that the Frenchman has not been performing at his usual high standards, even though he himself won’t admit to it. Evra claims that lack of match fitness during the start of the 2010/11 campaign is what caused his dip in form.
Speaking on the matter, Evra said, “This was not my best season. I can say that. I can be honest with myself. I missed pre-season and only had a week's training before I played my first game. People forget that. Some of the other players had about five weeks'
training working on their fitness and played some friendly games. Although I trained during my holiday, having only one week's training meant it was difficult at the beginning of the season.”
He added, "In the middle and towards the end, I felt back to my best but I need to do much better next season."
Manchester United finished the 2010/11 Barclays Premier League nine points ahead of closest rivals http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786.
