Manchester United defender Patrice Evra says his side must beat Chelsea to win Premier League title
Manchester United defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Patrice-Evra-c29231 believes that his team must beat Chelsea in order to win the 2010-11 Barclays Premier League title.
United will host Carlo Ancelotti’s Chelsea on Sunday, 8th May, in a crucial Premier League encounter at Old Trafford. The Red Devils lost 1-0 to Arsenal on Sunday, and saw their lead at the top of the league table cut short to only three points.
With just three matches left to play in the season, Manchester United and Chelsea will lock horns in a potential title decider. The Blues made a remarkable comeback to get themselves back into title contention after their chances were almost completely written-off
two months back.
If United manage to win this year’s league, it will take them past Liverpool’s record of 18 league titles, and will make them the most successful club in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 to keep alive their hopes of emulating
the Reds. The Frenchman believes that United’s destiny is in their own hands and if they fail to beat the Blues, they could be in huge trouble.
Talking to reporters, Evra said, “We have our destiny in our hands. We have a massive game against Chelsea. If we want to win the title then we have to beat Chelsea – it’s as simple as that. If we don’t beat them then we’ll be in trouble.”
The former AS Monaco defender added, “We just need to play the Man United way. I am not worried because we know we didn’t do the things we normally do against Arsenal. We have three games left and need to win every game. Every game is a final.”
The full-back admitted that his side did not play up to their standards against Arsenal and had to pay for it in the end. United had two clear shouts for a penalty turned down in the second half, but Evra refused to comment on the decisions, and believes
that the problem was with his own team and not the referee.
The former French captain added that his team did not play in their usual style and deserved nothing from the game.
