Manchester United are looking to go seven points clear of Arsenal at the top of the Premier League table tonight, after their encounter with reigning league Champions Chelsea. Chelsea have not really had a very positive season this time around and are currently
sitting in the fifth spot, just one shy of the Champions League zone.
In order to get their season back on track, the Blues have gone on to spend as much as 75-million pounds to land http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Luiz-c10542 in the January transfer window. However, those additions to the side are yet to really prove themselves.
Out of the two, it can be said that Luiz has had much more success in his short spell with the club. While on the other hand Chelsea’s marquee signing - Torres, has failed to find the back fo the net even once ever since he made the switch to the club.
One man who feels that the new signings won’t really manage to leave a mark on the side is Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand. The defender is set to miss his sides encounter with Chelsea, but he has still come forth and let his opinions go public.
The player is reported to have said,  “The Torres deal did make me think, ‘wow, they’ve really gone for it. But will those transfers really improve Chelsea this season? I don’t know. Next season, I would say, ‘yes, they will’. But it is hard to settle in
quickly in January.”
At the moment there are fifteen points separating the two teams, who are set to face off against each other later in the day. However a win for United, could potentially put an end to the title race, as at this point in the season seven points could easily
see the Red Devils ride out the remainder of this term in style.
At the same time a win for Chelsea would see them get into the fourth spot in the Premier League and signal their intent to get the most out of what is left of their season.
That being said, it is also going to be an interesting to see just how the new signings react to the harsh criticism that they have been bombarded with over the last few weeks. If the duo of Luiz and Torres manage to put on a brilliant show, then they could
potentially shut-up their critics and signal their arrival at the club in style.
Nonetheless, taking on United is not going to be an easy task since the Red Devils will be looking to go all out and get the three points from the game.
