Manchester United duo, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nemanja-Vidic-c27550, are keen to wrap up the English Premier League title against Blackburn next week.
United beat http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 2-1 in a potential title decider at Old Trafford on Sunday and edged closer to winning their record 19th league title. The Red Devils now lead the second placed Chelsea by six points and with only two matches left to play, United only need a point to clinch the title.
Javier Hernandez put the host’s in front only 37 seconds into the game after Nemanja Vidic doubled their advantage in the 23rd minute. Veteran midfielder, Giggs, who is on the verge of his 12th league title win with the club, is delighted to emulate Liverpool’s record of 18 titles. The Welshman has urged his teammates to go for the kill against Blackburn to seal the trophy as soon as possible.
Talking to the reporters, Giggs said, “We will try and get it done as soon as possible. It’s a tough place to go but I’m sure we will have a lot of fans going to that one, it will be a great atmosphere as it always is and we won’t go for the draw, we will try and win.”
Vidic, who is also the club captain, hailed his team’s commitment in the game and believes that his team deserved to be the Champions after the consistency they have shown in the big games. The Serbian also insisted that mathematically it is not over yet and his team should go to Ewood Park to win.
Vidic said, “Obviously it’s great for me, great for the team today. Like Ryan said, mathematically it’s still not finished but hopefully [in the] next two games we can take one point, or three, or six and win the league.”
The centre-back lauded the performance as a team effort and believes that they outplayed the Blues in all departments of the game and deserved to be the winners.
Vidic has urged his team-mates to maintain their focus and continue with the same form against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 in the UEFA Champions League final at the Wembley Stadium on May 28, 2011.
