The Red Devils beat Schalke 2-0 in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final at the Veltins-Arena on Tuesday, April 26, 2011.
Wayne Rooney and Ryan Giggs scored in the second half to take a two away goal advantage to the second leg at Old Trafford.

Talking to the reporters Giggs said, “We created enough chances to be four or five up. Before the game we would have taken 2-0, but we are a little disappointed to be only 2-0 up.”
However, the Welshman is delighted with the win and feels that his team has one foot in the final of the competition. The 37-year-old is delighted to have become the oldest player in the Champions League to score a goal.

The 25-year-old added that United have shown the world that they can play as good in the away matches as well.
“Overall we’re pleased with the performance with two away goals; it’s a good away win for us. So we just have to be professional and finish the job at home,” said Rooney.
The former Everton star has warned his team against complacency and believes that the tie is not over yet.
