Manchester United eager to sign Karim Benzema
Manchester United is once again being linked with a move for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema. Sir Alex Ferguson is a known admirer of the Frenchmen and after missing the opportunity to capture him last year it has been reported that United would try once again, but who will United be willing to offload?
Spanish publication Marca have reported that Ferguson is preparing a £25 million bid for Benzema, which is five million less than what Madrid paid Lyon for his services a year ago.
Benzema, 22, had a rather disappointing first season at the Bernabeu, scoring just nine goals in 32 appearances. His lack of first team action also led to his exclusion from Raymond Domench’s French World Cup squad.
His contract at Real expires in 2015. Will he really want to leave the Bernabeu?
Well, it’s the perfect opportunity if you ask me for the Frenchmen to reignite his career as the Red Devils lacked a cutting edge when Wayne Rooney was injured.
Dimitar Berbatov has so far failed to live up to expectation at the club following his big money move from Tottenham and may be the first to be offloaded from the club, although its highly doubtable that the club will recover the £30.75million they spent on him.
