Manchester United extend http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dimitar-Berbatov-c11254’s future
Despite being in the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/United-States-c3034 and participating in their pre-season games, it seems like Manchester United are still actively working on their player contracts and transfer policies.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863.
The winger, who is recovering from a knock that he picked up in the Copa America, has gone on to put pen to paper, on a new long term deal and as a result, is now tied down to the club for quite some time.
Gill, when talking about Valencia is quoted to have said: "We are in the process of finalising that. Antonio has been away at the Copa http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/America-c38390 and we've been away here in the US, but that's broadly sorted out"
"Antonio initially signed for four years, so he's got two left. The length of the deal will come out as and when, but it's a longer-term deal.
"That should be announced next week, when we're back."
With Valencia now being offered a new contract, the likes of Dimitar Berbatov and Javier Hernandez are also set to be given extensions on their stay with the club.
Berbatov in particular has had his future at the club been brought up time and time again. Following his inability to make the squad against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 in the UEFA Champions League final, it was believed that the forward would be on his way out of the club.
Nonetheless, Berbatov himself went on to confirm that he wished to stick around Old Trafford for quite some time and Gill seems to agree with that fact.
Gill has revealed that Berbatov is set to be offered an extension on his contract, mainly because his goal scoring ratio is still terrific and due to the fact that he has around two years of high level performances still left in him.
When talking about Berbatov and the team’s options to extend his stay, Gill went on to add: "There is an option to extend Dimitar's contract by another year, on the club's side"
"We can do it whenever we want to do it and there are no conditions around it.
"We want him to stay. He scored over 20 goals last season, so there is no desire on our behalf to see him go. From our perspective he has, effectively, two years to go.”
The way things are shaping up at the club, United are looking to go into the new season, with almost everyone on a long term contract and with the squad being happier than it has been in recent years.
