Manchester United goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak wants to quit the club: EPL News
Manchester United goalkeeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Tomasz-Kuszczak-c35329 has revealed that he will quit the club come the end of the 2010-11 season.
Kuszczak joined United in January 2007, but since then he has played as an understudy to Edwin Van Der Sar. The Polish goalkeeper has made just 59 appearances in almost five years with the club so far.
United’s first choice goalkeeper, Edwin Van Der Sar announced earlier that he would retire from football at the end of the current season. The Red Devils signed goalkeeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Anders-Lindegaard-c5553 in the January transfer window this season as a cover for the veteran
Dutchman.
Kuszczak revealed that he wants to play regular first-team football and cannot play as a second choice anymore. The 29-year-old added that manager Sir Alex Ferguson has not assured him of a first team place, so he has made up his mind about leaving the club.
The goalkeeper is disappointed by the manager's lack of belief in him despite spending almost five years at the club.
He told a British tabloid, "I'm definitely leaving the club. My time in Manchester is coming to an end. I've worked hard for five years but I never played as much as I wanted. It's a shame the manager didn't really give me a chance. I always believed I can
be Edwin van der Sar's successor."
Kuszczak added, "Unfortunately, Sir Alex has decided differently. Even though I played many games, I spent most of my time on the bench. I accepted that as I had a great rival, one of the world's best keepers, and Manchester was the only club where I could
accept that role for so long."
The goalkeeper situation at Old Trafford has now become very critical and United must spend big to replace the great Van Der Sar. Replacing a great goalkeeper is never easy at Old Trafford, and that was the case when United’s legendary goalkeeper, Peter
Schmiechel left the club in 1999. United had to struggle for six long years before they were able to find the perfect replacement in the form of Van Der Sar.
United are linked with a host of names to replace the former Fulham goalkeeper. The Red Devils are reportedly interested in signing Atletico Madrid goalkeeper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 suggest that United have already tabled a 17.5 million pound bid
for the 21-year-old and a deal is possible in the summer.
