Manchester United keeper Anders Lindegaard confident he will replace Edwin van der Sar in goal at Old Trafford
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Anders-Lindegaard-c5553, the 27-year-old Denmark goalkeeper, revealed he was not worried about Manchester United bringing in another stopper to replace 40-year-old Edwin van der Sar, who is set to retire at the end of the season. With the Dutchman gone, the spot
for the number one keeper will be available and United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is said to be on the look-out.
Lindegaard is currently out of action with a knee injury, which he picked up in his second appearance with United in the FA Cup. While there has been speculation linking many keepers with a move to Old Trafford in the summer, Lindegaard insisted he was not
worried. The Danish stopper was confident he would be taking over from Van der Sar next season.
Lindegaard was confident he would be given the first choice keeper position despite facing competition from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Tomasz-Kuszczak-c35329 and possible summer arrivals. He said while speaking to reporters, “The question is more complex than just a yes or no answer. There
are many factors to consider but it is, of course, a goal.”
He said he was eager to show he was the best possible replacement for veteran goalkeeper Van der Sar, “I don't think about that (other keepers being linked with United). That's not on my table and I can't say one thing or another about it. The only thing
I can do is show myself and prove to everyone that I should be the first-choice keeper.”
Lindegaard joined Manchester United in November of 2010 for an undisclosed fee from Norwegian side Aalesund. He arrived at Old Trafford shortly after receiving the Goalkeeper of the Year in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Denmark-c2884 but failed to impress at his new side. The Danish
keeper got off to an unlucky start as he picked up an injury in only his second appearance.
However, with impressive past experience and international experience under his belt, there is a possibility Lindegaard could earn the post of the first-choice keeper under Sir Alex Ferguson. He will have to work hard and prove himself when he finally recovers
from his injury, which is an estimated few weeks.
