Manchester United legend, Paul Scholes, has called time on his glorious 16-year career with the Red Devils but will continue to work in a coaching capacity.
There was intense speculation that the 36-year-old will hang up his boots after the 2010/11 season and he has finally announced that he will retire with immediate effect. However, the veteran midfielder will continue to serve his boyhood club in a coaching
role from next season.
The midfielder thanked everyone who helped him achieve big things at the club and feels that he is retiring at the right time.
Scholes said, "I am not a man of many words but I can honestly say that playing football is all I have ever wanted to do and to have had such a long and successful career at Manchester United has been a http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Real-c30728 honour.” 

"This was not a decision that I have taken lightly but I feel now is the right time for me to stop playing. To have been part of the team that helped the club reach that 19th title is a great privilege. I would like to thank the fans for their tremendous support
throughout my career; I would also like to thank all the coaches and players that I have worked with over the years.”
Scholes emerged from the youth ranks of Manchester United in 1994 and soon became a first team regular with the Red Devils. The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson’s team and scored 150 goals. He also made 66 appearances
with the England national team and scored 14 goals as well.
The Manchester born midfielder was an inspirational figure in winning 10 Premier League titles, 3 F.A Cups, 2 League Cups, 2 UEFA Champions League trophies and a FIFA Club World Cup with Manchester United. Scholes is wildly considered to be the best central
midfielder of his generation and was probably one of the best passers of football.
Even the best player in the game, Zinedine Zidane, has regarded him as the toughest opponent he has ever played against. The greatness of the player is such that Alex Ferguson has signed different players over the years but none of them have been able to
fill in his boots.
