Manchester United lining up left back bid
Manchester United are reported to be in the works, to line up a bid for Everton's star left back, Leighton Baines. The England international, who has been at Everton for what seems like forever, might very well be on his way to
Old Trafford as early as next summers. This is because the current left back at Manchester United, Patrice Evra, might be nearing the end of his career at Old Trafford, sooner rather than later. Evra, who is also a French international has recently fallen
downwards on his form, ever since the World Cup came to an end and with Manchester United in desperate need to get players who can perform at their best, the team has no place for players who need to pick their form up.
Alex Ferguson, has been a long term admirer of the twenty five year old Baines. In fact the manager was also reported to be trying to capture the player when he used to play for Wigan Athletic. However the Everton manager, David
Moyes who has been made aware of the possibility of his left back leaving, has placed a very firm stance on the situation and has apparently said that he will not let the player leave under any circumstances.
In the past Moyes has failed to retain his top players, with the likes of Wayne Rooney and Joleon Lescott all leaving the club, despite the manager insisting in the past that neither of those players would be allowed to leave the
team as well.
However it still remains to be seen if Leighton can actually operate in United’s defence. The defender has had his fair share of moments for both club and country in the past, but has never really played football at the highest
of levels, which begs to ask the question, is he the player that can help strengthen United's defence?
According to most experts the answer to that question is, No. Nonetheless, Alex Ferguson is clearly a manager who knows just what he is doing, so perhaps it is safe to say that the manager has seen something in the player that
rest of the world has overlooked. That being said the player on a personal level would love the deal to go through, considering it is kind of impossible for a player to play at a club bigger than Manchester United.
