Manchester United looking to sign Matthew Briggs
Manchester United, who have been the most successful team in the history of the Premier League, seem to have fallen from grace of late. The team seems to be lined with players who are on the verge of retiring or feel like they should
have already retired by now. This case is the strongest when it comes to the teams defense.
United are currently desperately short on star center backs and apart from Nemnja Vidic, the team doesn't have a single quality center back who can say that he is one of the best in the world at what he does. Rio Ferdinand who happens
to be the former captain of the team, seems to have aged dramatically and is now a mere shadow of his former self. As a result Alex Ferguson is reported to be looking to bring in some bright young players to provide cover for the team on the long run at the
back.
In the past the manager successfully signed Chris Smalling from Fulham and is looking to do the same, only with Matthew Briggs this time around. The nineteen year old center back seems to have caught the eyes of the manager and
Ferguson is reported to be willing to make a move for the player as early as January. Briggs made his debut for Fulham against Chelsea and did rather brilliantly during the game, in fact his performance in the game was so good, that he earned a pat on the
back from almost all the opposing team strikers.
Alex Ferguson seems to have taken note of this fact and is now looking to bring the player in, so that he can continue to provide the same level of performances for United and in doing so Ferguson would have successfully acquired
the services of a quality center back for the next ten seasons or so.
Fulham are however not going to be willing to let go of their player for cheap this time around and are looking to demand as much as ten million pounds for the player, if United are looking to buy.
