Manchester United looking to spark interest in Joaquin Sanchez
Manchester United are reported to be looking to fill up the gap on their wing that was created once the team’s star winger, Antonio Valencia managed to go ahead and break his ankle a couple of months ago. Valencia has been reported
to be out of action for another couple of months and is more than likely to make his return near the end of February; that is if he does play again this season.
On the downside, what the absence of the player has done for the team is that it has caused them to have only one world-class winger amongst their ranks and that player is Nani. With just one seasoned winger amongst their ranks,
United have often found it close to impossible to play with a formation that favours excessive crossing, for obvious reasons. However, with the title race now heating up more than ever, Sir Alex Ferguson is reported to be on the lookout to land a player who
is no stranger to playing on the wing.
The player that the team is looking to land is Valencia’s veteran, Joaquin Sanchez. Alex Ferguson has been a big fan of the player and has recently been reported to re-ignite his interest in landing the player. Joaquin, who is
now twenty-nine years old, has had an outstanding season with Valencia so far and he has often been linked with a move away from the team, in the past. However, with Valencia previously not being in any sort of financial crisis, they did not opt to sell the
player. Things seemed to have changed this time around, as Valencia are currently facing their worst financial run in ever. They had to let players like David Villa and David Silva leave the team for this very reason and if Ferguson can have his way, then
they will soon be losing Joaquin as well.
Joaquin is a natural right-winger, which means he can come into the side and fit right into the hole that has been created due to Valencia’s absence. On the other hand, this move would also allow Nani to return to his favoured
left wing position and hence United could be back to their goal scoring ways sooner rather than later.
According to almost every expert, this move could prove to be one of the best that Ferguson has made during his reign at United and is one that could really benefit the team.
