Manchester United lose Ryan Giggs to injury
Manchester United are scheduled to be without talismanic midfielder and one of the teams oldest serving players, Ryan Giggs for what is set to be an extended period of time. The Welshman suffered an injury to his hamstring in the teams two all draw against
West Brom this past Saturday.
However, what made the injury far worse than it should have been, was the fact that it was a recurring injury, which meant that the fact that it recurred was because of the fact that something was seriously wrong with Giggs' hamstring.
The thirty-six year old trained with the team all week and seemed to have recovered brilliantly and way ahead of time than expected. However, the injury that he picked up against Bolton last month seemed to have been lurking in the shadows just to make an
appearance at a later time and that is exactly what it did. Giggs was forced to sit out the second half of the game despite performing brilliantly in the first forty-five minutes.
According to a statement released by the clubs website: "He'd been doing very well, but it's (hamstring) gone again and maybe we need to give him a longer recovery", manager Alex Ferguson told the club website.
Manchester United had been doing tremendously well during the time period that Giggs was on the pitch. In fact the team was doing so well that they were two goals up and looked like going on a goal scoring rampage in the second half.
However, that was not the case as with Giggs being taken off the field, the team seemed to lose a sense of creativity up front and as a result they ended up conceding two goals to end the match as a draw instead.
This match just goes on to show and prove to everyone what the United fans are well aware off. Despite Giggs being in his mid-thirties his presence and contribution to the team are greatly vital to United being successful. This could be backed up by the
fact that Giggs has been a part of every United side that has won the Premier League.
This also causes a sense of concern amongst the United faithful, who are worried about who will replace Giggs in the side when the player does retire? So far, there is no one in sight, who would be capable of doing just what the Welshman does.
