Manchester United make a move for Atletico Madrid goalkeeper David De Gea
Manchester United’s current goalkeeper, Edwin Van Der Sar is set to call it quits on his career as a professional football player at the end of the season. The player has been asked by a number of people to extend his stay at the club, however, the Dutchman
has stated that he has his future sorted out and is going to retire as a player at the end of the season.
As a result of their first-choice keeper heading to the door, the team has been showing interests in bringing in a number of keepers to replace him at the end of the season. Despite a number of keepers having been linked with a move to the team, it now seems
like the team is set on landing Atletico Madrid’s 20-year-old shot stopper, David De Gea.
De Gea has been highly impressive for Atletico and despite his tender age, he has shown that he is more than capable of mixing it up with the best in the world.
According to a number of sources, United have already gone ahead and made an approach for the keeper. If these sources are anything to go by, then the Red Devils have pretty much gone ahead and stated that they are willing to offer as much as 17.5 million
pounds to land the player’s services.
De Gea’s agent, Hector Rincon has however gone to confirm part of the story by stating that talks have already been held with the Old Trafford based team on a potential move for the player, but nothing solid has been confirmed as yet.
Rincon is reported to have said, “Well, we did have talks with Manchester United but, first of all, they always look for an agreement with the club. Anyway, most of the biggest European teams have shown interest in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-de-Gea-c10463”
The comments made by the agent, if anything, add some clarity to the overall picture, while casting some doubt at the same time. The fact that United have already shown their interest in the shot-stopper in a formal way is a great sign of things to come
regarding his potential move in the future, however, the agent stating that most teams in Europe are showing the same amount of interest in the player gives one the impression that perhaps United are not the favourites to secure the player’s services as yet.
That being said, it is still too early to clearly say anything regarding De Gea and it is going to be a wait till the summers to see how this move actually goes down.
