Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson hails Luis Nani – Premier League Update
Manchester United manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson has gone on to hail his team and Luis Nani in particular, following his sides win in the Community Shield game against Manchester City.
City took the early lead in the game and at the half time break, they were two nil up. However, in the second half, Nani and co went on to run the show as they scored three second half goals, to secure the win. The last goal of the game, which also happened
to be the match winning goal, came in the very last minute of injury time and was scored by Nani.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nani-c27299 hasn’t been a regular part of the United starting eleven, but this pre-season he has gone on to relish every opportunity that he has been given and has really made a name for himself in front of his manager and United’s fans.
"You see the form of Nani in pre-season and today - he will start the season," Ferguson said.
The manager then went on to talk about the bad luck that Nani had last season, following Valencia’s return to fitness and the team’s requirements at that time.
"He had a fantastic season last year. He was unfortunate that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863 came in at a time when we needed a bit of freshness and a boost to the squad."
The manager then went on to admit that the player had spent far too much time living in Cristiano Ronaldo’s shadow, but he has finally managed to break free of those links and made a name for himself.
Ferguson then went on to add: "He was only in [http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristiano-c9622] Ronaldo's shadow simply because he's Portuguese. That's the only link I could see between them. Some players take longer to mature than others.”
"http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ronaldo-c31734 was different; he was an incredible footballer and matured immediately."
Its rather amazing to see Nani not getting the recognition that he has deserved for so long. The player has easily been one of the best players on the United squad for the last two seasons and he has still had to prove his worth time and time again.
Last season, despite not starting as many games as he would have hoped to, Nani went on to score ten goals for the team, while picking up a number of assists along the way. Statistically the player did so good, that most were wondering why he didn’t land
the PFA Player of the Year award.
Nonetheless, the winger is going to be able to get his hands on the award this time around, considering his performances during the season, are as good as they were in the pre season.
