Manchester United manager, Alex Ferguson has gone on to hail German international Manuel Neuer. The manager came forth with his comments following his side's two goals to nil win over the German club, on Tuesday, April 26. Despite having dominated the game,
United weren’t able to complete their schooling of the German team, only because Neuer was putting in a brilliant performance in between the posts.
Despite going on to concede goals to both http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wayne-Rooney-c36736, Schalke are still potentially in the fixture. This is because a two goal deficit is not a very hard one to turn around. However, despite being dominated in every aspect on the pitch,
the only reason that Schalke were beaten by two goals was due to Neuer. The keeper made a flurry of saves and often left most of the United line feeling frustrated not being able to find a way past him.
Alex Ferguson, instead of being frustrated by the inability of his side to find the back of the net, took a completely different route, as the manager went on to hail the brilliance of Neuer, following the conclusion of the game.
Ferguson is reported to have said, "In my time at United, it's probably the finest display of goalkeeping against us. I'm sure there have been other feats but tonight I saw a very good one."
What is interesting here is the fact that United are currently on the red alert to sign a new keeper at the end of the season, in order to replace the soon to retire Edwin van der Sar. The manager expressing such high praise for a keeper, can only mean that
perhaps the manager sees more potential here than meets the eye, initially.
Neuer, who is currently 25 years old, has already gone on to represent the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 international side and was one of the best players on display during the FIFA World Cup 2010. The keeper made his break into the Schalke 04 senior team in 2005 and since then
has gone on to make a massive 152 appearances for the team.
Despite not making any appearances in the 2005 season, the keeper went on to slowly make his mark with the team the following season and soon became first choice for the club.
Neuer has more than enough experience with the gloves to operate at the highest level, and could potentially be the keeper that United need to replace their Dutch Legend. Along with that, the keeper has already gone on to state that this current season is
the last that he will be serving with Schalke. With a move for the keeper already in the works, it is now up to Ferguson to convince the player to make that move to Old Trafford.
