Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson believes that Chelsea’s under-fire striker Fernando Torres will soon end his goal drought.
However, the Red Devils manager also hopes that Torres’ goal drought continues until the end of their two-legged clash with the Blues in the quarter-final of the Champions League.
Sir Alex Ferguson said, “Torres will start scoring. I just hope he waits a little bit, at least until after the tie against us. When Chelsea signed him, everyone said what a great signing he was, and rightly so. Now everyone says that it was a mistake. He
needs time to adapt.”
Chelsea broke all previous record to sign Fernando Torres from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 for £50 million on the deadline day of the January 2011 transfer window. However, the Spanish striker failed to impress at Stamford Bridge and still has to open his account for the
Blues despite featuring in eight matches in all competitions.
However, Sir Alex Ferguson feels that Fernando Torres is a world-class striker and will need some time to emulate his goalscoring form which he was enjoying at Liverpool. The former Atletico Madrid striker scored 65 times in 102 appearances for the Merseyside
club.
Torres is expected to lead Chelsea’s attack against Manchester United in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final at Stamford Bridge- a venue where Sir Alex Ferguson’s team has failed to win in over 9 years.
Ferguson thinks that referee decisions cost his team a lot on their visits to west London in recent times but he is confident that his team has the strength and depth to win at Stamford Bridge.
Sir Alex added, “Last year they beat us with an offside goal, while a month ago http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Luiz-c10542 should have been sent off. But then again, anyone who wins has a little bit of luck. I hope in the Champions League the wind will turn our way. Between us and Chelsea,
there is no difference.”
