Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson believes English Premier League is getting stronger
Manchester United manager, Sir Alex Ferguson has rubbished claims that the English Premier league has witnessed a decline in quality.
The Scott believes that the league has become more competitive than it has ever been. He noted the competitiveness of the league can be proven by the fact that the 7th and 20th position on the league table are separated by just ten
points.
The 69-year-old believes that his team has not been up to their usual standards this season but they are still on top of the table and enjoy a five point lead over Arsenal. Ferguson is not pleased with his team’s away-form this season and admitted that it
might cost them the title at the end of the season.
“Away from home we have been disappointing but then you have to say that, maybe, this league is getting tougher than we think and the top teams are not getting it as easy as they did in the past. I think it emphasises the strength of the league rather than
the weakness of it,” he said.
Only eight games are left in the season and United are firm favourites to land their 19th league title come the end of the season. Winning this year’s title would see the Red Devils surpass http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 to the highest number of titles in English
history.
Just like the competition for title wining contenders is increasing, same is the case at the bottom, where as many as 10 teams are battling to avoid relegation. Ferguson believes that no team can be ruled out and any time can beat the top sides on its day.
“The run-in is always going to be difficult. It doesn't matter where we play, whether it is away from home or at home. You saw it last game against Bolton, we didn't score until the last kick of the ball but that's typical of Manchester United,” he noted.
The Scott is focusing on one game at a time; he is eyeing the fixture against West Ham United game this weekend, where he will hope to pull off a win.
