Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson hails the current title win as the greatest – EPL news
Manchester United manager, Sir http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson, has hailed the latest English Premier League title win as the greatest in his illustrious career with the club.
Manchester United beat Blackpool 4-2 in the last league encounter at Old Trafford on Sunday, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/May-22-c39884, 2011 and lifted their record 19th league trophy. The Red Devils surpassed Liverpool as the most successful club in British history and Ferguson
fulfilled the promise he made at the time of joining the club in 1986 of knocking http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 off their perch.
The Scot won his 12th league title with United since joining the club and believes that the current title triumph is the best of the lot. The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Scotland-c756 manager hailed his team’s work ethic and believes that his troops deserved to lift the
crown. Ferguson added that his players have silenced all critics, who thought that United were no longer a dominant force and the current squad did not have quality to win trophies.
Ferguson said, "It's special. This is a particularly special one because it means we've won the title more than anyone in the country. It's history and great for the tradition of this club so I'm really pleased about that.” United finished nine points clear
at the Barclays Premier League summit with the boss conceding: "It didn't feel that way a couple of weeks ago”
"The players have been great, there's a great work ethic in the team. I think they deserved it because there were a lot of great performances. I'm dismissing all that nonsense that it's not a great Manchester United team. It's a great feat winning this league.”
The manager concluded.
The 69-year-old praised his team’s home form, as they managed to take 52 points of a possible 54 available at Old Trafford this season. On the other hand, United’s away form came as a concern to the manager and he reckons that they need to overcome it in
the next season.
The manager believes that the success has a lot to do with the squad strength, as United had top quality replacements for every position in the field.
Alex Ferguson’s men will hope to win the double, as take on Spanish Champions, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604, in the UEFA Champions League final on May 28, 2011.
