Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson not reaching out for the treble
Manchester United manager, Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that he wants to win at least one trophy from the three that the Red Devils are in contention for. United are still playing for the UEFA Champions League, FA Cup and the Premier League.
Ferguson admitted that treble would be an ideal end to the season but it will take a lot hard work to achieve the feat. He added that calling for a treble this season could be putting immense pressure upon his players. He also included that it would be a
difficult thing to achieve it this season as compared to 1999-2000 season when the injury graph was relatively low.
The United manager, while talking to the media, said, "Going away from the greed of winning three trophies, if you can win one a year you have to be happy with that. If it turns out we win only one of those big trophies, I’ll be delighted."
"I think it’s more difficult than it was in 1999. Back then we went through the last three months of the season without an injury." added Ferguson.
The Scot further hailed the performance and character of his team. He claimed that his side had never really given it up till the last second and this was the best quality they possessed in themselves. He seemed delighted to mention the fact that people
did not count them out until the final whistle blew and this was the motivation that counted in the end.
According to Ferguson, Red Devils were much better in recruiting fresh and young blood into their squad and the players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Javier Hernandez were a perfect proof of this.
He concluded by saying, "The Glazers have always been very supportive in terms of the desire to improve the team. Where we are good at is bringing in young players, the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wayne-Rooney-c36736 and Javier Hernandez. We’re good at that, so
I don’t see why we should change."
Manchester United are going to face their City rivals Manchester City in the Semi-Final of the FA Cup. They will take on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 in the Quarter-Finals of the Champions League and are currently topping the Premier League table.
