Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson terms Old Trafford fixture a huge advantage
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson sees their home ground fixture at Old Trafford as a huge advantage to his side and believes that the “electric atmosphere” at the venue will help them overcome Chelsea in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League
quarter-final.
The Red Devils won the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-final against Chelsea by 1-0 at Stamford Bridge.
Moreover, Manchester United have never lost a Champions League tie after winning the first leg and Sir Alex Ferguson sees it as a huge advantage for his side along with the huge support of the Old Trafford crowd.
Ferguson said, “It's an advantage, but the biggest advantage is Old Trafford. It'll be an electric atmosphere. We have to be very careful and have to play a top performance, but the atmosphere will help us. It'll be a tight game at Old Trafford. I hope we
get through Saturday's game without any further injuries.”
Manchester United are favourites to make it through to the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League after winning the first leg against Chelsea. “I've never thought about the treble. I said we're in every competition and we'll try our best. When you go out on that field, you have to win the game. That's the attitude of Manchester United. We have to do that,” added the Red Devils boss.
The Old Trafford leg of Manchester vs. Chelsea quarter-final will be played on 12 April, 2011.
