Manchester United midfielder Anderson out for two months, Rafael van der Vaart out for Tottenham
Anderson latest midfielder to pick up injury
Manchester United midfielder Anderson has picked up a knee injury which will keep him out for about two months. His absence will come as a huge blow to Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson who is chasing the treble this season and has no room for
injuries at this point in the season. The Premier League leaders beat Crawley Town over the weekend in the FA Cup to make it to the next round where they will face rivals Arsenal. They have done well in the Champions League so far, finishing top of their group
and will take on an injury stricken Olympique Marseille in the round of 16.
Having started the season with virtually no injury problems, the United boss now has to deal with a crisis in midfield. Anderson is the latest midfield to pick up a long term injury; http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Antonio-Valencia-c6345, Owen Hargreaves and Park Ji Sung have been consistently
inconsistent this season in term of appearances. Not having made use of the January transfer window, Ferguson will now have to make do with some essential first team players. The English Premier League giants have been linked with several players to bring
to Old Trafford during the summer, but in the mean time United have most of their midfield sidelined.
Valencia has been out since last September, the Ecuadorian winger suffered a broken ankle after a harmless tackle by Glasgow http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Owen-Hargreaves-c28918 made a return for United in September but
had to be taken off after five minutes and has not featured since then. Park Ji Sung was having a fantastic season until he left for international duty to represent South Korea in the Asian Cup. He returned only to pick up a hamstring injury in training which
has ruled him out for over three weeks. Anderson is also thought to have picked up his injury during training.
Rafael van der Vaart out with injury
Rafael van der Vaart aggravated his calf injury while training and is now sidelined, which means he will miss the Premier League clash against Blackpool during midweek. Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp revealed Van der Vaart would be out for an estimated ten
days, which means he will be fully fit by the time the Spurs take on AC Milan in the second leg of their Champions League fixture.
Redknapp said while speaking to reporters, “Rafa did his calf again yesterday in training so he's struggling (for Tuesday's Blackpool game). He missed a couple of games, played in Milan, got through 70 minutes and then yesterday morning didn't feel good.
It's a blow, he is a fantastic player. We need him but we can't get that run out of him. I'm hoping he will be back for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wolves-c40952. He should be ok, it's not a tear.”
The Holland international picked up an injury in the Premier League 2-1 win over Bolton but still featured in the 1-0 win over AC Milan. The former Real Madrid winger has been impressive for the Spurs and can be credited with some of their recent success
which has seen them make it past the group stages of the Champions League and go on to beat Milan. They are currently at fourth place in the Premier League, in contention for a Champions League spot next season.
