Fletcher has only played 20 minutes of competitive football over the last three months; the Scot has been on the sidelines after suffering from a virus which caused weight loss at an alarming rate and his recovery has certainly taken some time.
Although the 27-year-old made a brief appearance for the Red Devils in the Champions League second leg victory over Schalke 04 at Old Trafford, he is far from complete match sharpness.
On the brighter side for Fletcher, he will have three games (Two in English Premier League against Blackburn and Blackpool, then Gary Neville’s testimonial) to show his manager that he is up for the showdown against Barcelona at Wembley.
Ferguson said on Fletcher, "Darren has put the weight back on and is back in training, but he has a bit to do yet. But, as far as the final is concerned, there is almost three weeks to achieve that. The 20 minutes he got against Schalke last week was certainly
a step forward. His training, in terms of sharpness for such an important game, will be stepped up now."
"If he does reach the target, it will be a big boost to us as we all know he is big-game player.” Added the United boss.

time.
Putting United’s domestic success aside, the Red Devils certainly have a stern test as Barcelona are considered by many pundits as the best football team in recent times.
