Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick believes his team is clicking at the right time
Manchester United midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Carrick-c25282 believes that the Red Devils are hitting their best form just at the right time.
With almost a month’s action left to play in the ongoing 2010-11 season, United lead the Premier League table with a six-point lead over second placed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786. The Red Devils have one foot in the final of the UEFA Champions League after winning 2-0 in the
first of the two-legged semi-final against Schalke 04.
United are on course to win a double of Champions League and Premier League and Carrick is confident that his team has the quality to win both trophies. The former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder is expecting a crucial week, as his team will play against Arsenal
in a very important Premier League encounter at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, May 1, 2011. Sir Alex Ferguson’s men will then host Schalke in the second-leg of the Champions League on May 4, 2011.
The 29-year-old believes that a victory against Arsenal will almost clear the roads for his side to win their 19th Premier League title and overtake http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749.
Carrick believes that the players are still wounded by the Champions League final defeat to Barcelona in 2009 and is confident of making amends for that loss.
Talking to the reporters Carrick said, “Individually, players are hitting good form and as a team things are looking good. “It’s all right at the minute but we want to carry this through until at the end of the season. It doesn’t count for much at the minute.”
“We are not getting ahead of ourselves and thinking about what might be. We only lost it by a point last year so it was not like the wheels came off and we collapsed. The 2009 final was a massive chance, not many people have won it two years on the bounce,”
added the former West Ham United star.
Carrick hailed the consistency of his side for reaching their third Champions League final in four years if they manage to beat Schalke.
