Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick desperate for FA Cup trophy
Manchester United midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Carrick-c25282 has revealed that he is desperate to get his hands on the FA Cup trophy in the current 2010-11 season.
Carrick has won plenty of silverware during his time with the Red Devils; however, he is setting his sights on the one honour that has eluded him so far: an FA Cup winner’s medal.
The last time Manchester United lifted the FA Cup was back in 2004, a time when Michael Carrick was not part of the club. The midfielder almost fulfilled his FA Cup ambitions four years ago, but the Red Devils stumbled at the finish line. United were defeated
by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 at in the final of the 2007 FA Cup, but Carrick is determined to go all the way this time.
He said, “There is a good chunk of us (in the United squad) who haven't won the FA Cup, so we are desperate to progress. I was fortunate enough to play in a final at Wembley when I played against Chelsea in 2007 but we lost so my memories are not too fond.”
However, Manchester United face a huge obstacle in the road to the FA Cup in the shape of Arsenal. The Red Devils are set to go up against the Gunners in the quarterfinals of the tournament. Carrick knows that overcoming Arsene Wenger’s men will not be easy,
but he believes that his side has what it takes to make it through.
Speaking on the upcoming encounter, the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international said, “We always have great respect for them because we are well aware that, when they are on their game, if you are not switched on they are very capable of beating the very best. It is going
to be quite a show-down. These are the huge games you want to play in.”
