Manchester United overcome Turkish champions at Old Trafford
Manchester United put a troublesome week behind them by beating Turkish champions Bursaspor 1-0 at Old Trafford thanks to a goal from Nani.
With the news that Wayne Rooney wants to leave United after he released a statement a couple of hours before tonight’s match, the players put that out of their minds to focus on the task in hand, and Nani provided the only goal of the game on seven minutes after spinning and hitting a left-footed shot from a long way out.
Like Shaktar Donetsk did at the Emirates last night against Arsenal, Bursaspor didn’t pose as an attacking threat and barely troubled United ‘keeper Tomasz Kuszczak.
Bursaspor ‘keeper Dimitar Ivankov however was kept busy, and he kept the score at one-nil, as he made saves from Ji-Sung Park’s lob and Patrice Evra’s drilled shot.
United top their group with seven points, while Rangers occupy second spot with five points after drawing with Valencia, who are third with four points.
United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has said the door is open for Rooney, and if he does leave, life without him begins well with a win.
