Manchester United sign another youngster, Mats Moller Daehli
Manchester United have yet again lured a hot prospect to their academy. 15 year old Norwegian midfielder Mats Moller Daehli, who plays for Norwegian Premier League club Stabaek is expected to join the Red Devils’ in a few days and will link up with the academy
on 1st February after he completes his education.
Sir Alex Ferguson was very eager to sign the youngster, who has been touted as one of the best European players of his age group and the Norwegian has already been assured of a professional football contract when he turns 17 by the Manchester side.
Bayern Munich, Ajax and many Premier League clubs were reportedly interested in the 15 year old but after having 5 trials in Manchester, Daehli was offered a deal last week which the youngster accepted.
But as Daehli has not yet turned a professional, according to FIFA guidelines, Manchester United will not be paying a transfer fee to Stabaek but Manchester United have agreed to pay Stabaek €10,000 every year till the entirety of the Norwegian’s playing
career. Apart from this, Manchester United might also give funds to the Norwegian club’s academy and will also give funds to FC Lyn, where Daehli previously played.
Stabaek coach Tveit said that the club had done its best to keep the youngster for a long time in Norway but the move was always on the horizon and it is not a surprise. The experienced coach is very happy to see such a talented player go to one of the best
clubs in England and said that if Leeds United or Everton had offered the contract, it might have been difficult to let the kid go, indicating that the two clubs were interested in signing the starlet.
Tveit is confident that the youngster has a great potential to become a major force and called him one of the best players in Europe of his age group. Comparisons have already started to be drawn as the coach believes that the youngster can play like Messi
and Xavi both.
The Norwegian is considered to be a complete footballer and has great technical ability and at 15, being at a club like Manchester United will further enhance the qualities under the watchful eyes of Sir Alex Ferguson, who had been tracking the starlet for
two years.
After being constantly sought by Bayern Munich, Ajax and other Premier League clubs, the youngster made up his mind about Manchester United a long time ago.
Ex-Manchester United reserve team manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who signed for Molde F.C yesterday, was the key figure behind the coup and was a motivational factor for Daehli. Solskjaer has already enticed three Norwegian youngsters, Etzaz Hussain, Joshua
King and Magnus Eikrem at Manchester United.
The youngster will link up with his countrymen on the 1st of February 2011 and will be hoping to make it at Manchester United and his coach at Stabaek Tveit is very hopeful that the 15-year old has got what it takes to make it to the 1st
team at Manchester United.
