Manchester United skipper Nemanja Vidic aiming for treble in the ongoing season
Manchester United skipper Nemanja Vidic has claimed that the Red Devils have the strength and depth to win three different competitions in the ongoing 2010-11 season.
However, Vidic insisted that every player will have to give his best performance in the rest of the matches in order to repeat the 1999 treble winning season feat.
Vidic said, “It is great to still be in contention for three trophies but it doesn't mean anything at this stage. When you look at the teams we will be facing in the next games, it is going to be very hard. It is possible though and I feel the best way to
approach it is just to assess each game.”
“It is dangerous to start looking too far ahead. The achievement would be great but we all know one game can change everything,” added the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Serbia-c3002 international.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nemanja-Vidic-c27550, who recently returned from an injury, also hailed his team’s performance in the remarkable comeback victory over West Ham United, which kept United’s hopes of winning treble in the season alive.
Manchester United are the only team in England which is contesting in three different competitions- the UEFA Champions League, Barclays Premier League and FA Cup.
The Red Devils are already through to the quarter-final of the UEFA Champions League where they will play League rivals Chelsea. It will be the rematch of the UEFA Champions League 2008 Moscow final which Manchester United won on penalties. The first leg
of the tie will be played at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786’s home Stamford Bridge on Wednesday which will be followed by the return leg at Old Trafford a week later.
Moreover, United defeated Arsenal in the quarter-finals to seal a berth in the semi-finals of the FA Cup. Sir Alex Ferguson’s men will face Manchester City in the last four of the League Cup at Wembley on 16 April, 2011. Furthermore, Manchester United’s
recent win over West Ham United has put them seven points clear of second-placed Arsenal in the Premier League table.
No team in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 has won three competitions in a single season other than Manchester United and it seems Sir Alex Ferguson is right on track to winning the second treble in the history of English football.
