Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck keeps his options open on permanent move to Sunderland
Manchester United forward Denny Welbeck, who is currently on season long loan at Sunderland, will not rule out the possibility of a permanent move to the Stadium of Light. But the Black Cats manager Steve Bruce fears that the player’s
recent goal scoring form will also shoot up his market value and it will become extremely difficult for him to sign the player on permanent basis.
The 20-year-old striker scored three goals in the last two games, including a double strike in the last game against Everton. But as the player keeps producing excellent form, Bruce is concerned that the player’s permanent switch
will move further away.
Bruce, who also played under the management of Sir Alex Ferguson in his United days, has a very good relationship with the Scot and will be looking for a big favour in order to sign the England Under-21 International.
The young striker, who celebrated his 20th birthday on Friday, has chosen to keep quiet on this matter. He knows that if he keeps on scoring like that he might get into the United 1st team very soon. So it
has become a very interesting situation for the player and the manager as both of them find themselves in limbo.
Another young defender Nedum Onuoha is on loan from Manchester City and Bruce wishes to get both players permanently. For that reason, the former England defender plans for a (showdown) talk with Fergie over the youngster’s future.
Bruce said: "Danny's a young lad and he's thriving on the challenge here. If he keeps playing like that, his price-tag will go up and put us in an impossible situation."
He added: “The form he's showing now is why we brought him to the club. His ability has never been in question. The kid wants to play regularly, he's getting that with us and he's showing what a naturally gifted player he is."
Welbeck has shown a lot of maturity since his move to Wearside. He wants to focus on each game and not think too much about the transfer. His main objective will be to get as much game time and experience as possible.
The player feels that when he was at United he didn’t get many chances. There were times when he missed a lot of games but when he got the chance he failed to grab it with both hands. Here at the Stadium of Light he is playing
in every match and as a result getting better day by day. He is full of confidence and enjoying football.
The player is also pleased with the way the manager is using him in his preferred role which is upfront as a striker. Previously at United, he was used as a winger which didn’t turn out to be a very successful move for the player.
He also heaped praise on the strike partners Darren Bent and £13.4 million record signing Asamoah Gyan. The pair has scored 11 of the 17 league goals. Welbeck believes that the club had to rely heavily on the strikers and he is happy to contribute with them.
Welbeck is a hot prospect of English football and has the potential to represent England at an International level. It will be interesting to see what path he chooses. If he keeps on producing the goods there will be many clubs
wanting to sign him. Looking at the huge debt problems United currently have, the player could become a great prospect for United and Ferguson in the future.
