Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez happy with his debut season at Old Trafford - English Premier League
Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez is happy with the pace at which he has adapted to life in the English Premier League. Hernandez who is also known as ‘Chicharito’ was signed from Mexican club http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Guadalajara-c39463 in April 2010 for approximately eight million
pounds.
The Mexican was expected to spend most part of his debut season on the benches but his great knack of scoring important goals has made him an important member of Sir Alex Ferguson’s squad.
“I thought that during my first season in England I was going to spend a lot of time sitting on the bench, getting adapted to English football, but it hasn't been that way and I feel that I am very lucky," said Hernandez while talking to reporters.
"I am very lucky for being where I am and I am happy having played so many games in the most important team in the world. I am having fun at Manchester United and I want to keep on doing things correctly." added the Mexican International.
The 22-year-old, said that he never thought of having such a successful debut season and expected to feature for the reserve team only.
Hernandez has been United's saviour in many games this season and has come off the bench and scored some really important goals for the Red Devils. 'Chicharito' is renowned for his clinical finish and devastating abilities to run past the defences on the
counter attack.
The Mexican believes that goals are not an individual but a team effort. He claimed that he has never pressurised himself by setting goal targets and his focus is just on winning trophies for Manchester United.
Hernandez admitted that he is enjoying scoring goals for United as that is the primary duty of a striker. He does not want to take the whole credit for himself though, as he believes that a striker cannot score a goal on his own, he needs help from the teammates.
Hernandez has scored 14 goals in 32 appearances in his debut season for the Red Devils.
Sir Alex Ferguson praised Chicharito last week and said that he signed him as a bargain. United are looking to offer Hernandez a new contract at the end of the season, to ward off interest from Real Madrid.
