Manchester United striker, Michael Owen, admitted that he will not be embarrassed to pick up the winner’s medals if the Red Devils go on to win the 2010-11 Premier League season.

Manchester United took on Arsenal in a crucial Premier League encounter at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, May 1. A victory in this game might have edged United closer to the title and it will be the first league title for Owen. However, this was not the case and Arsenal cruised to a 1-0 victory in the end.
The Liverpool legend added that he has won medals in the past too but has not won the big ones.
Talking to the reporters Owen said, ‘’There are players who would be 10 times more deserving of a Premier League medal in this team than me, so it is not as though I will be flashing it around. But there is no point being embarrassed about accepting something you have been part of.”
The England striker added, "I didn’t get two medals for scoring two goals in the FA Cup final in 2001. I have won plenty in my career but I have not won the two big ones. That would complete the set. There is still quite a way to go, so let’s hope there is something to pick up at the end of the season.”
Liverpool and Manchester United have had a longstanding rivalry, as much as that the two-sides have not exchanged a player for more than 50 years now.
Owen, who played almost 300 games for the Merseyside club, joined United on a free transfer before the start of 2009-10 season. Liverpool’s fans have still not accepted the former Real Madrid striker’s decision and despite being the legend for Reds, he has always been a recipient of boos from the Anfield faithful.
